Dissatisfaction with his country’s foreign and domestic policies ended in the Russian Revolution. Abdicating in 1917, he and his entire family were executed by the Bolsheviks the following year. An Imperial Decree signed “Nicholas”  to the Chapter of Russian Imperial and Royal Orders in which Nicholas II bestows the Imperial order of St. Vladimir of third and fourth degree, St. Anna of second and third degree, St. Stanislav of second and third degree, in Russian, one page, 8.5 x 13.5, 1914.  The document and French postcard of Nicholas II attached to the cardboard. The document sold at Sotheby's auction house in New York Monday June 9, 1997,  lot 100.
