I think this franked cover was to a letter written in 1838, probably on Jan 1. In Jackson's papers at the Library of Congress there's a memorandum by Jackson dated Jan 1 1838 regarding someone named William Crockett's lease of lands belonging to James H. Dillon of Virginia. This is the only mention of Dillon in all of Jackson's papers, and the Jan 1 is a perfect match for your Jan 2 postmark--probably unlikely to be a coincidence. I doubt this adds any value to the letter--but perhaps you can let the purchaser know. Place a Bid!
